TRI-COUNTY RC CLUB

MINUTES OF OCTOBER 2013 MEETING

The October 2013 meeting of the Tri-County RC Club of New Jersey was held at the Monroe First Aid Squad Building Monroe Township NJ on October 31st and was called to order by Vice-President Emery Mersich at 8:10 PM. Present at the meeting were sixteen (16) members.

The minutes of the September 2013 meeting were read by Secretary Gerry Roedel. Motion to accept the minutes as read was made by Larry Kosinar and seconded by Chris Leeds.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Treasurer's report:

Treasurer Joe Plotnick presented his financial report.

Motion to accept was made by Tony Calandriello and seconded by Brady French. Motion carried.

   1. Vice President Mersich announced that the position of Newsletter Editor has been accepted by Pete Duskewiecz. Also, the interim position of Trustee has been accepted by John Donnelly.

   2. Mike Degennaro presented a summary of the AirBenders fun-fly and balloon-bust competition which was held on October 5th. According to Mike, the weather was great and the competition was fierce! He also announced that the next event will be for helicopter pilots and will be held at Heavenly Farms on November 2nd.

   3. An update of the status of acquiring Marlboro Airport as a flying site was discussed. A letter has been sent to the Parks department and a reply is expected.

4. Alex Szemere announced that Emery Mersich and Gerry Roedel have been given the status of instructors.

5. Vice President Mersich gave a brief recap of the club participation at the IEEE event held at Monmouth University.

6. Alex and Larry K discussed the possibility of performing a memorial fly-by in honor of Rich Dvorin and Bill Perkowski at the upcoming Turkey Fly on November 10th;

7. Larry Kosinar informed the membership that after 4 years of trying, the Rutgers team placed in the money at AUVISI 2013.

8. Treasurer Joe Plotnick stated that he has tried to book a restaurant for this year’s Holiday Dinner, but has been unable due to lack of availability. The dinner will probably be held in January instead.

9. Alex announced that club office elections will be held on December 5th and he needs another volunteer for the nominating committee.

10. Alex asked that the AMA be notified of the passing of Rich and Bill, and it was decided to purchase 3 AMA Headquarters memorial bricks for Rich, Bill and Bob Mackey. Secretary Gerry Roedel stated that he would do so as soon as possible.

11. Mike Degannaro brought up the possibility of a club bus trip to Old Rhinebec Aerodrome in the Spring.

12. Due to low turnout, the montly raffles were not held

13. Crash of the Month. Gene Letcher described the loss of his Ultra-Stik which resulted from a dramatic wreck which left pieces of plane scattered from one end of Heavenly Farms to the other. For this he was enthusiastically awarded the Crash of the Month.

A motion to adjourn was made by Chris Leeds and seconded by Tony Caraccilo.

The meeting was closed by Vice-President Mersich at 9:25 PM

MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 2013 MEETING

The September 2013 meeting of the Tri-County RC Club of New Jersey was held at the Monroe First Aid Squad Building Monroe Township NJ on September 26th and was called to order by President Mike Forbes at 8:10 PM. Present at the meeting were twenty-two (22) members.

A moment of silence was requested by President Forbes to honor the memory of Trustee Rich Dvorin. Afterwards member Frank Kopitski gave a heartfelt tribute to Rich.

The minutes of the August 2013 meeting were read by Secretary Gerry Roedel. Motion to accept the minutes as read was made by Chris Leeds and seconded by Mike DiGennaro.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Treasurer's report:

Motion to accept was made by Mike DiGennaro and seconded by Tony Calandriello. Motion carried.

Old Business:

   1. Instructors’ report: Chief Instructor Alex Szemere reported that Sparsu Desai and Mischa Zhialev have both soloed and have attained Intermediate Pilot status. We wish them sunny days, calm winds and happy landings! Alex also gave a few thoughts of remembrance of Rich Dvorin.

   2. President Mike Forbes gave a summary of the Camp Daisy Benefit Funfly which was held at Heavenly farms. The weather was very cooperative, and although attendance was low all who did attend enjoyed themselves

   3. One prospective member introduced herself. Her name is Valentina (to be filled in later)

New Business

1. The Turkey Fly will be held on November 10th.

2. Mike D gave a report on the First AirBenders funfly, which he reported was a resounding success and reminded the membership of the next event which will be be held at Edison Field on October 5th

3. Vice President Emery Mersich reminded reported that representatives of TriCounty will be making a presentation at the TEEE day event being held at Monmouth University on October 1st. He also stated that Indoor flying will commence in November at the Metuchen Middle School.

4. Alex made a motion that shirts be given to club instructors which will identify them as such. Mike D seconded and the motion passed.

5. There were several nominees for Crash of the Month including Chris Leeds who managed 3 minor incidents, all with his Fokker Triplane, Mike D, who bruised his Piper Cub, Alex once again, and Tony Palmer who, for reasons known only to him, augured in his Stick while spectators at the Daisy Association funfly watched in horror. For this he is awarded Crash of the Month.

6. The fifty-fifty was shared by Mike DiGennaro Al Ross and Bob Seales. Fuel was won by Al Ross.

7. Emery Mersich presented his electric Fancy Foam Trainer and was awarded Model of the Month

A motion to adjourn was made by Chris Leeds and seconded by Al Ross.

The meeting was closed by President Forbes at 9:25 PM

MINUTES OF AUGUST 2013 MEETING

The August 2013 meeting of the Tri-County RC Club of New Jersey was held at the Monroe First Aid Squad Building Monroe Township NJ on August 29th and was called to order by President Mike Forbes at 8:15 PM. Present at the meeting were twenty (20) members.

The minutes of the July 2013 meeting were read by Secretary Gerry Roedel. Motion to accept the minutes as read was made by Chris Leeds and seconded by Tony Palmer.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Treasurers report was not available.

Old Business:

   1. Instructors’ report: Alex Szemere reported that trainee Misha Zhilaev is nearly ready to qualify. Tony Caracciolo has qualified as an intermediate nitro pilot. Alex has been working with three students and encouraged more beginning pilots to take advantage of the flight training program.

   2. There were no prospective members.

   3. President Forbes stated that his proposed changes to the club constitution and by-laws were not ready to be acted upon.

New Business

1. The Daisy Association Fun-Fly will be held Sept 15th at Heavenly Farms Field.

2. The first AirBenders just for fun fly will be held at Heavenly Farms on Sept 1st and will consist of Limbo, Spot Landing and Anything Else We Can Think Of. Mike DeGennaro announce the second event will be held on Oct 5th at Edison Field and will feature Balloon Bust Competition.

3. There were no new members.

4. Roland reported the crash of a Mustang and a Spitfire which qualified him for crash-of-the-month.

5. The fifty fifty and fuel raffle were not held.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        

6. There were 2 entrants for Model of the Month: Elvis Perez presented his Sig Somthin’ Extra which he built from a kit, and Gerry Roedel brought his Tower Hobbies Razor 3D Arf. Elvis won the prize.

A motion to adjourn was made by Chris Leeds and seconded by Bill Lesko.

The meeting was closed by President Forbes at 9:30 PM
