Indoor building and flight instruction
Monday December 18, 2017

The Tri-County RC Club's Indoor building and flight program

The Tri-County RC Club sponsors an RC model aviation course during the colder months of the year.

Interested flyers 10 years old and above will be able to build a flight capable, remote controlled model plane with an electric motor under the supervision of experienced pilots from the Tri-County RC Club. During the time they are building their model plane, participants take part in a flight instruction program using computer simulators, Tri County RC indoor trainer planes and finally their own finished models.

In addition to the model building part of the course we will be closely following the AMA’s Take Off and Grow Program. Although this program is intended for outdoor flight, much of it is also applicable to indoor flight.

Some of the exercises we'll be doing are:

  • Aircraft and flight preparation
  • Buddy box training
  • Taxiing
  • Ground and flight safety
  • Performing straight and level flight
  • Performing left and right turns
  • Takeoff and takeoff abort
  • Landing

All of the tasks in the outdoor program can be found here.

Also a copy of the Pilot Training Log can be downloaded here.

The AMA’s Newcomers’ Guide is a fantastic document for new and experienced flyers alike, and can be downloaded here.
